Selling a Pre-Loved Shirt? Let AI Clarify the Condition, Not Improve It
“Excellent condition” is easy to write. “Light wear along the inner collar, shown in photograph four” takes more attention—and tells a prospective buyer much more.
Reselling clothing asks for a different kind of description from launching a new collection. You are not describing an ideal example of a style. You are describing one particular shirt or kurta, with its own history and present condition.
AI can help organise that information. It should not polish away the details that make the listing honest.
Drafting is a real use case; condition still needs inspection
eBay describes a guided listing flow that starts with photographs and a title, then uses AI to suggest item details and categories for seller review. Make a record before asking for a paragraph
Lay out the actual garment and inspect it in suitable light. Record what you can establish: the label text, current measurements using a stated method, visible wear, alterations and repairs you know about.
Do not copy the original catalog description wholesale. A shirt may have been altered since purchase. A kurta may have a replaced button or a repair near the hem. The current item, rather than the original marketing copy, is the subject of the sale.
For a boys’ kurta, use the correct children’s category and the label as written. Avoid converting an unfamiliar size into an age range without a reliable basis.
Use photographs as evidence, not decoration

For an imaginary navy shirt, the approved notes might say that a cuff button was replaced and that its colour differs slightly. The draft should retain both facts. “Carefully restored” would introduce a judgement; “replacement button at right cuff, shown in photo five” would preserve the evidence.
Read every sentence against the notes. Remove adjectives that imply facts you have not checked. A concise, specific description does not need to sound apologetic.
Answer questions without rewriting history
If a buyer asks whether a mark will wash out, do not let AI promise that it will. State what you know about the current condition and any cleaning already undertaken. Similarly, do not guarantee that an altered kurta can be returned to its original dimensions.
Keep a copy of the final listing and the photographs used. If the garment changes before dispatch, update the information and communicate appropriately through the selling platform. The record should describe the item the buyer will actually receive.
Price, authentication and platform eligibility are separate decisions. A well-written condition paragraph does not settle any of them.
